Configuration and administration
Basic settings and knowledge preferences
Configure an agent's basic information, data sources, capabilities, skills, and analysis preferences.

Use an agent's Configuration tab to set its basic information, data sources, capabilities, skills, and analysis preferences.
Before you start
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Permissions | Project owner or Project administrator. Ordinary project members can ask questions but cannot modify this configuration |
| Prerequisite | At least one data source in the project has completed metadata parsing |
| Entry point | Main navigation on the left → “More” → open the agent → “Configuration” tab |
Four sections in Configuration
| Section | What it manages | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Data sources | Which sources the agent can query; add one or more | Next section on this page |
| Capabilities | Four switches: Python interpreter, chart visualization, user clarification, and web search | Capability switches explained |
| Skills | Methods the agent can use during analysis | Analysis skills |
| Preferences | Two pieces of persistent context: domain knowledge and analysis preferences | “Domain knowledge and analysis preferences” below |
Change the name, description, and avatar
- Name and description: click “Edit” to open “Edit data agent”, make changes, and click “Save”. Name is required; description is optional.
- Avatar: click the avatar at the top left of the detail page to open “Edit avatar”. Choose from Hairstyle, Eyes, Eyebrows, Mouth, Nose, Head shape, Glasses, Earrings, and Background color, or use “Random” or “Reset”. Click “Save” when done.
Bind data sources
Click Add
The Data sources section explains that it contains sources accessible to this agent and accepts one or more. Click “Add” to open “Select data sources”.
Select sources
Check sources in the dialog and close it. With none selected, the section says “No data sources added”.
Check the list
Each item shows its name (“Unnamed data source” if absent) and description. Without a description, it shows the table count, such as 12 tables. Remove individual sources from the right of each item.
Sources bound here define the agent's query scope: it will not query sources that are not attached, even if asked. If a table exists in a source but is blocked by a policy, change the rule under Permissions and data scopes.
Domain knowledge and analysis preferences
The Preferences section contains two multiline text boxes for persistent context included with every data question.
| Field | What to enter | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Domain knowledge | Company background, business information, and key term definitions | Department structure, fiscal year, evaluation criteria, metric definitions |
| Analysis preferences | Analysis approach and output style | Concise or detailed answers, charts first or tables first |
Both save on blur and show a character counter at the bottom right, with a maximum of 1024 characters each. Exceeding the limit rejects saving; content is not truncated to 1024 characters.
Key constraints
| Item | Value or default | Where to change it |
|---|---|---|
| Data source count | One or more can be added | “Configuration” → “Data sources” |
| Domain knowledge / analysis preferences | Maximum 1024 characters each; save on blur; over-limit content is rejected | “Configuration” → “Preferences” |
| Name | Required | “Edit data agent” |
| Description | Optional; the list shows “No description” when empty | “Edit data agent” |
| Avatar | Combine categories or randomize | Avatar at the top left of details |
| Skills and capabilities | Covered on dedicated pages | Skills · Capabilities |
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | How to identify it | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Changes do not take effect | Save is rejected, or the previous value returns after leaving | Check that your role is Project owner or administrator; ordinary members can ask questions but cannot modify configuration |
| Preferences cannot be saved | Character count is red or a length warning appears | Shorten to no more than 1024 characters before leaving the field |
| Question says a table is missing | It reports table X in schema Y cannot be found | Check that the source is attached; change the policy if access is blocked |
| Agent queries nothing | Question is rejected because no tables or fields are queryable | Data sources is empty; click “Add” to attach one |
| Bot in a group still has the old name after renaming the agent | You changed the AskTable agent name | The bot display name is controlled by the Feishu or Slack application; change it on that platform |
